80 Minutes wasn't enough to close the one try gap in a season opening loss to the Coconuts

"We went out and had our first shot at playing as a team. We put in an effort that came too late and this gave us a [place to grow from"
- Ryan Cox, Head Coach

Last Saturday, the Men's contact team opened up their fall season with a home match against the Daytona Beach Coconuts. The stands provided a number of fans, families and Old Boys that came out to see how their Men's team have grown since their last season 4-4 finish. Light on numbers, the 18 Jacksonville players went toe-to-toe against the 32 traveling Daytona players for a local rivalry match. Jacksonville started strong with a clean, 4 phase try in the first 30 seconds of the match with a complimentary conversion to make it 7-0. After that Jacksonville had a tough time managing the ball on the week leading to a 7-21 score in favor of Daytona at the half. With a quick re-centering on the sideline, the men's team got to work and put up 14 unanswered points until Daytona was able to put the game away with a late Try and conversion. Your Jax Men's walked away with a 21-28 loss to start the season with their next match being a friendly against UNF on October 21st at 1PM.
